Ten years in the making, with much planning and thought, Whisk Me Away bakery, located at 2523 S. Main Street, Suite 2, opened Monday, February 1.
Anastasia and Karen Bergner-McNeece, along with their six-year-old daughter Liberty, are thrilled to make their lifelong dreams come true by opening a bakery business. The couple has been married 10 years and say they have thought about opening a business they could both love and after the past year said, “This is the time. We learned you can’t put things off.”
Karen who has an associate degree in Hospitality Management and Supervision, and a certificate in Culinary Arts from Lincoln Land Community College with culinary experience at Disney World, several restaurants chains, Walmart and more, says the business combines the two things she loves most (three if you include family), food and people. Anastasia has also worked in the Walmart bakery for 13 years.
Whisk Me Away will be open Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-7 p.m. for regular and pre-ordered purchases of, what they say, includes anything cake, from pops, wedding, anniversary, birthday cupcakes and more. They will also have cookies, brownies and muffins.
From 5-10 p.m., Whisk Me Away Sweet Delivery will feature hot, fresh delivery cookies to order with a variety of drinks including chocolate milk, according to Liberty.
Whisk Me Away also plans to have pre-order theme specialty boxes one to two times per month which will include brownies, muffins, banana bread and more. Watch their Facebook page for details.
