ayton Dugan joins the Bob Freesen YMCA as Sports Director. Dugan will help lead, develop, expand and supervise YMCA sports programs for all ages in the Jacksonville area.
“We are excited for Payton to join our YMCA team. He has a bachelor’s degree in business, management and organizational leadership from Illinois College. He can step into this position ready to go and already knows many of the kids after having been a part of our summer camp program for the last two years,” said Mary Henry, executive director at the Y. “Payton is great at working with all ages and has a sports background.”
“I grew up in Taylorville, but moved to Jacksonville in sixth grade. As a kid I played flag football and baseball at the YMCA,” says Dugan. “I have enjoyed working with the camp in the summers and look forward to my new duties as sports director.”
Dugan will fill the position left by Matt Norville, who left to follow his dream of a career in sports broadcasting in California.
Dugan was all conference for while playing for IC during the Men’s Basketball 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons. He will be an immense influence for the upcoming Youth Basketball season which begins Saturday, December 2. Sign-up now to get your 1st through 6th grader enrolled before the November 12 deadline.
