The 38th annual Robbie McEvers Memorial golf tournament was held July 27 and 28 at The Links golf course. The tournament is for youth, with age brackets starting at “8 and under” and going up to “16 to 18 year olds.” According to their Facebook page, this “annual tournament was organized by friends of the late Robbie McEvers. Robbie was a 9-year-old who was stricken with leukemia. He passed away in 1979 and this tournament is held in his memory to promote junior golf and other charitable causes. Because Robbie enjoyed golf so much, we sincerely hope all our participants and spectators will find the tourney enriching and want to return each year.” The event is operated by the City of Jacksonville and offers a great challenge for the junior golfer. The Kiwanis Club has been handling all scheduling and management of the event for several years. The 39th annual tournament is scheduled for July 27 and 28 of 2017.
