Annual event haunts up a spooktacular time on Prairie Land Heritage Museum grounds

Hanna-Barbera released a series of great animated TV shows in the late 60s and early 70s. One of the most memorable of those was “Wacky Races.”
The host of characters would get into their specially made automobiles and race against each other through various road rallies to much comic delight. Imagine that in a Halloween setting but without the race.
WJVO has successfully produced, for several years now, a drive-thru safe Halloween trick-or-treat event at the Prairie Land Heritage Museum Institute grounds.
The cast of characters get to stay in their cars and ride safely from station to station and collect their goodies.
More than a dozen local businesses and organizations were on hand to dole out treats to the characters in this “wacky race.”
While there was no Dick Dastardly to be seen, the “6-7 guys” sure had some parents laughing or maybe scratching their heads. The Jacksonville Citizens Police Academy made sure there were no hijinks while some dalmatians from Scott County handed out candy and smiles and pirates looted their booty of treasure for those to enjoy. Bert and Ernie even came over from Sesame Street to visit.
While the finish came all too soon, everyone enjoyed the practice before Halloween.
