Brock Gwaltney to perform at Green Pastures Campground

It’s Brock and Bach, plus a bit of Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Ravel as local celebrity Brock Gwaltney brings his one man concert to Green Pastures Campground for an admission-free concert on Saturday afternoon, March 26 at 2 p.m.

Gwaltney is a senior at Milliken University and this will be his final concert in the Jacksonville area before heading off toward graduate studies in piano. The son of Roque and Becky Gwaltney, of rural Jacksonville, Brock graduated from Routt Catholic High School before entering Milliken.

He has been named Millikin’s Outstanding Pianist for the past two years, and this year, became a finalist for the Hollis Prize. Along with being awarded academic high honors at the university, Gwaltney was the winner of the Concerto/Aria Competition, which included a solo performance with the Decatur Symphony Orchestra.

Gwaltney has chosen Green Pastures for his concert since he has strong ties to the campground, where he once performed as a young summer camper, and he’s now a part of the performing arts staff.
