U.S. Army Captain Lyle Bloomfield was welcomed home Sunday night, April 19, 2020, after a nine-month overseas military deployment with the Illinois National Guard Unit 1-178 IN out of Chicago. He and his fiancé, Katelyn Weaver became engaged just before he left in July last year and plan to be married this summer.

Bloomfield, who is employed by the Illinois State Police, was escorted to his Jacksonville home by many first responders including the Illinois State Police, Jacksonville Police and Fire departments, South Jacksonville Police and Fire departments, LifeStar Ambulance and others.
