Jax Hat: par for the course

Jax Hat, a hat-draw style ultimate tournament, drew more than 80 players from all over Illinois and one from St. Louis. The six disc golf teams each played five games between 9 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 16. The silver team finished with the best record. This year’s event was the tenth to take place over the past 12 years. The popularity of disc golf (Frisbee golf) has grown in the Jacksonville area specifically. Anyone interested in playing or learning to play ultimate is encouraged to contact Jacksonville resident Guido Strotheide (ultimateSPFLD@gmail.comof the Springfield Ultimate club. The group holds regular pickup games on Sunday afternoons and Thursday evenings and would consider holding pickup games in Jacksonville again if there were enough interest.
