The North Greene Area Food Pantry

The North Greene Area Food Pantry is located at 200 North Main Street White Hall Il which is a building that was donated to us by a member of the community. This building had to be stripped and all new wall, doors and windows had to be installed. All the work was done by our volunteers.

I, Gale Custer took over as Director 5 years ago. At the same time Rich Caskey took over as Chairman of the board. Rich and Judy has been by my side and the three of us run the food pantry as it is today.

After we took over we applied and received our 501c3. Our cash flow has increased . We have at least 12 volunteers each week. Everyone is a volunteer and knowone get a salary. We had a member of our community give us money to buy a truck and trailer to bring the food to us from the Central Illinois Food Bank.

We serve an average of 625 people or over 200 families per month. We also furnish food to about 25 students from the alternative school in White Hall because the students do not have access to breakfast or lunch. The kids comes from low income families and would not have no meals if not for us.

We provide food for the summer lunch program. They have more than 100 kids fed per day Monday through Friday 10 weeks during the summer. This program is also sponsored by our local Church’s.
