Our Town Books scared up some fun at The Vault on October 24 for the All Hallows Boooook Fair. No, that’s not a typo — lots of boos were made as souls searched the stacks of books and merchandise for a good cause.
The fair featured plenty of entertainment beyond just another frightening read. Street Trash, one of downtown’s newest shops, brought over a series of wares including horror/Gothic t-shirts, a selection of VHS tapes and a visit from Michael Myers.
Regina DuRocher Keefe gave folks a glimpse into their fortunes with tarot readings. The lady artists of The Painted Lady, one of downtown Jacksonville’s new tattoo shops, had a line out the door for folks wanting to get on the list for a flash tattoo sale.
Honeydew Candle Company, The Creative Hooker and axe throwing were also available at the fair. Independent authors Jo Salazar, Jade Rockwood, Ian Winterbauer and Kassidy VanGundy were on hand to sell copies, sign books and greet fans.
One lucky book fair goer received a $50 gift card from Our Town Books for best costume at the end of the night. A portion of the proceeds from the book fair will benefit the Crisis Center Foundation.
