The Morton Ave Misfits are “a volunteer group of car enthusiasts who each year host a spring and fall cruise night and car show in Jacksonville IL,” according to their website.
This volunteer group uses a portion of their event proceeds as donations to local charities and organizations! They are a “car club with a mission [of] doing good for our community.”
Most recently on June 13, they held the 30th annual Jacksonville Downtown Car Show & 12th annual Summer Cruise.
The car show ran from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. around the downtown Jacksonville square — presenting an array of years and models and 24 judged classes this year. Although there was a good amount of rain, spectators showed up prepared with umbrellas and enthusiasm for viewing these great cars and chatting with the owners.
Luckily, the sun still came out throughout the day. The classic and vintage rides were dried and polished to stay protected and ready for the event goers.
That evening from 5-9 p.m. was the summer cruise portion of the day. Headquartered at Hardee’s, the official cruise rout ran along Morton Avenue from Main Street to Lincoln Avenue.
