The barn and silo on the grounds of Prairie Land Heritage Museum now have new roofs. Workers started on Monday, Nov. 6 by removing all the old shingles from the barn.
By Wednesday, Nov. 8, sections of the barn’s roof had received a facelift — shiny, new metal roof panels were in place. Additionally, a lift was being used for the removal of shingles on the silo.
Norman Werts, a board member and member of Prairie Land Heritage Museum was on-site Wednesday. He shared about the work being done and also recalled, “A long time ago, they’d open that [door on the top end of the barn] to access the tracks inside. … That’s where they’d store all your hay.” The once-used door is still visible on the barn.
The next event for Prairie Land is their annual auction on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
