The United States Constitution is a document written by the first leaders of America. It governs through law and through the ideas which our founding fathers believed would be fair and just. The Constitution is defined as the prime rule over any other power in the nation, and it guarantees rights and the outline of a democratic society for all people. Today, the Constitution still has a large impact on the daily lives of people living in the United States. It also greatly affects my rights as a teenager and how I am allowed to live my day-to-day life. It decides the opportunities I can have, my safety, and other protections.
One of the most important rights I have is the right to protest and speak freely. As a teenager, I cannot vote in state or national elections. This means I have little to no power in them. Despite this, I am still guaranteed a right to protest government choices. According to the First Amendment, I am also allowed to contact state or national leaders to protest a decision made.
This shows that although I can’t make a direct impact on the results of elections, I can make small attempts to impact the decisions of those in office and those around me. Everyone, including myself, has a right to speak freely and have a voice in elections, whether it be directly or indirectly.
Another way I am impacted today by the Constitution is the way our government is constructed. It is stated in Article II of the Constitution that the president does not have sole power over the country. He or she is subject to the law and must take an oath or affirmation that
