Pirates, princesses, superheroes, Fortnite characters, ninjas and more were invited on an adventure to tour the trunks and treats of over a dozen groups in the parking lot of Eisenhower Elementary School on October 28, all organized by Midwest Youth Services.
Those who dared the brave journey walked away with copious amounts of treats and toys. Members of Central Christian Church passed out delicious hot dogs, potato chips and drinks for trunk-or-treaters, too.
The air had just enough chill to remind those who ventured forth that it was the fall but it was still pleasant enough to go on the journey without being encumbered by a bulky coat — unless, of course, you were a werewolf.
Also, at the end of the journey, adventurers in costume were able to choose which trunk was their favorite to visit. The winner was Jacksonville Salvation Army for its Grinch-themed trunk all the way from Whoville. While it’s a little early to think of Christmas, Mr. Grinch was delighted to hand out some candy.
