Bob Freesen YMCA day campers had a great time Friday, June 5 during “Community Heroes Week.” After listening to the Jacksonville firemen and hearing what they do, each camper was able to spray the fire hose and “put out a ‘fire.’”
Then the campers climbed into one of the fire trucks to see just how tall the truck is and all the buttons and equipment inside! During their group photo, all the campers yelled out a big “thank you” to the firemen for coming and letting them see just a little bit about what these local heroes do.
With how well they handled the hose, there may be a few future firemen in the group! June 8-12 is “Future Health Heroes” week and June 15-19 is “Creative Changemakers” week. Camp continues through August 7.
