Local photographer’s image earns spot on Wyoming magazine cover

Jacksonville has no shortage of talented people, but every once in a while, one of our own makes it undeniably big. Zoe Wood is one of those people.
As a Jacksonville native and graduate of Jacksonville High School, Wood has experienced all the charm and closeness of a small town. She knows what it means to build something from scratch in a place where everyone is watching and rooting for you.
Wood built “Zoe Wood Photography” from the ground up, shooting her first session for a friend during 2020 and never looking back. What started as a fun endeavor turned into a full-time calling — and it all traces back to the Jacksonville High School darkroom. Wood would spend hours developing film, teaching herself the craft, long after the final bell would ring.
This same devotion recently carried her all the way to Wyoming. Wood’s photograph was selected as a finalist for the cover of “Rocky Mountain Bride – Wyoming” 2026 edition. The image features bride Mira Oros, seated in a vintage blue Chevy truck, her white gown spilling out the open door and Teton peaks rising in the distance behind her. It truly is the kind of photo that stops you mid-scroll.
Once the finalists were announced, the public had the opportunity to jump in. To nobody’s surprise, Wood’s community showed up in a big way, with support pouring in from friends, family and undoubtedly even strangers across the internet. The result? Her photo landed on the cover!
Known for her timeless photographic style blending digital and 35mm film, Wood has gone from a local familiar face into a destination photographer working across the globe. However, her creativity doesn’t stop there.
Wood is also the mind behind “Pocket Prints” — a collectible mini print machine that finds its home at events, coffee shops, bookstores and small businesses across
St. Louis and right here in Jacksonville. The machine dispenses city-specific print collections, each one a tiny, tangible piece of art that the buyer can keep. For her wedding photography clients, Pocket Prints is now available as a unique add-on experience. Brought to your reception in collaboration with OrgaNick Studio, it gives guests something to interact with, collect and take home.
Wood shares, “I wasn’t aware of my photo being chosen as a finalist for the magazine cover until the evening before voting was live. Once voting began, I was overwhelmed with love and support from people in my life, and also strangers on then internet! The feeling of seeing your work on the cover of a magazine is indescribable, but if I had to pick a word, it would be ‘relief.’ Not in a sense of winning the contest, but knowing all of the hard work, long night editing and learning, wasn’t for nothing. And of course, a whole lot of joy!”
It is truly something to watch someone turn a passion into a career this beautiful. From the darkroom at JHS to the cover of a national bridal magazine, and now bringing that same creative spirit back to Jacksonville one tiny print at a time — Wood is proof that the dream can start right here.
