On October 8, Carol Christensen, the YMCA’s current fitness director, held a Zumbathon Charity Event called “Paint the Dance Floor Pink” from 7-8 p.m. in the YMCA gym.
All proceeds from the event benefitted the Mia Ware Foundation. The Mia Ware Foundation is a support network for those who have been diagnosed with cancer, lost a friend, relative, or loved one to cancer as well as providing education opportunities for early detection. One of their goals is to increase the opportunity for all individuals to live full, positive and productive lives.
Christensen hosted about 15 people of all ages at the event for in an energetic evening of dance and fun, allowing for social distancing. They had a break in the middle for a drawing of a couple of prizes that were won by Tasha Meyer and Addie Jumper. Donations were also taken through the YMCA front desk for who wished to donate but were unable to attend. Participants had their temperature screened before they entered. The event raised $330 for the Mia Ware Foundation.
