Refinishing wood floors, or just floors in general, can be an arduous journey. From repairing damage to refinishing the surface, it takes time, patience and the right tools to get them looking vibrant and new.
David Wilkerson can tell you a tip or two about the painstaking work it takes to get wood floors back in prime condition. He’s been doing it for over two decades in the Jacksonville area.
He incorporated his own business in 2019, Wilkerson Floors, and has brought his local connections in to make it a thriving business that specializes in hardwood installation and refinishing services – but offers much more than that.

Specializing in wood floors, Wilkerson says there can be a lot of dust and dirt if you try to do it yourself, as well as several headaches. One of the ways Wilkerson Floors mitigates the dust is by using a special tool.
“We can revitalize existing hardwood floors, restoring their natural beauty and extending their lifespan. We utilize HEPA vacuum systems to mitigate up to 99% of all dust caused during the sanding process,” Wilkerson explains.
He says if you don’t already have wood floors but want them, Wilkerson Floors has you covered. They also offer new hardwood floor installations, either finished or unfinished, for a completely customizable experience.
They offer hardwood selections from Hallmark, Mercier, Somerset Hardwood, Shaw and Lauzon. Customers have several options for stain colors on unfinished hardwood to achieve a unique, personalized touch.
A recent change in their showroom, located at 624 East Morton Ave. at the corner of Hardin and East Morton, is they are now carrying luxury vinyl plank and tile flooring (LVP/LVT) in 10 different product options from Shaw and COREtec, which is ready for do-it-yourself projects or contractors. It’s available for cash and carry, and Wilkerson Floors offers free local delivery. They also offer these products and more in their installation options of LVP/LVT.
If you are looking for carpet, Wilkerson Floors does that, too. “We offer carpet from Shaw and Dreamweaver in residential areas, as well as Pence and Philadelphia for commercial carpeting,” Wilkerson says.
Wilkerson Floors also recently expanded into a new area of the home and out of the realm of floors somewhat.
